We are getting close to making the jump back into RVing and getting a travel trailer. Before I begin know that I'm all about customer service and quality. I have pretty high standards and can be picky. I am looking to spend $20-30k which isn't a drop in the bucket so I don't want to be chasing poor workmanship. We have narrowed the trailers down to Keystone Bullet Premier, Jacyo White Hawk and Artic Fox. I have owned 3 Jaycos in the past and have been very happy with them but the last was around 1995 timeframe. I'm looking at Artic Fox since they appear to be a higher end mfg and do the job right. Keystone I am nervous about only since I tend to read a lot of problems with them.Now I know this can turn into a Ford, vs. Chevy, vs. Dodge and each owner is going to say their brand is best. I'm after the honest feedback from those have have been around the RV's and know it more then I do. The dealer will tell me anything I want to hear. I also know that any of the above can produce a lemon trailer and no trailer is going to be 100% perfect.Thoughts about the mfg and model line I have listed? Last piece of information. Jayco dealer is 1 hr away.Keystone dealer is 2.5 hrs awayArtic Fox dealer is 6+ hrs away. If I get a lemon Artic Fox I am not going to be happy with 12 hr drives round trip. I can also tell you dealers around where I live put their own customers first and if you don't buy from them they have little interest in helping you. To this point I can understand some. That being said all service work would be handled by the dealer that sold the unit.

I would say go with the Artic Fox. I think they are made a bit better than the other brands that you are interested in and it should be bit better for the cold climates. You still might have some warranty work to do though - I did/do and mine is a Fox.

Go with Arctic Fox for the quality and good customer service. Warranty work is done at any RV dealer with you paying for it, then send the bill to AF and they will re-imburse you in full.

hard to say since building a RV is not rocket science. One thing that set out in my mind is the fact that arctic fox a division of Nash , the boss used to work for terry TT and he felt he could do a better job so he started up his own Tt manufacturing company.

We have had several Jayco units over the past 20 years. Few issues with each. Had a fairly large issue repaired at the factory repair at no charge with the unit being 4 years out of warranty in April. With that being said, if money was no object, my next unit would be an Artic Fox. They just aren't on the east coast but I would come west to get one. You read VERY few complaints with AF and I like the 4 season aspect and the fact their frames are factory built. They are a well made unit and you see very few on the used market. However, Jayco will probably be my next unit because of the customer service and dealers in the area. I would definitely rule out the Keystone unit. They are an okay unit but not the workmanship of the others. How wonderful you have such a nice decision to make.

We've had our Keystone Bullet for a few months now and 5 trips with not a single problem. Time will tell how it holds up over the years, but so far so good. We wanted to look at Jayco but there were no dealers in proximity.

I agree, both Wind River, Timber Ridge and Blackstone are excellent trailers with the same/custom Northwood chassis.

I don't mean to muddy the waters but if you are looking at the AF line, you also need to look at the upper lines of Outdoor RV. Really.

We were looking and it was Jayco and our current trailer. We were coming from a Salem (thats another thread) and a friend had a Jayco that could not get his windows from stop leaking. This would not detour me from looking at Jayco..just happens that his has this problem. It just came down to talking to people and the better deal we thought...Our only problem now is the water pump issue..but thats not Keystones problem...I'm on my third one, and all three are different name brands.

as far as things built, Our keystone has real wood cabinets, while our other had particle board.

we've owned both a Jayco and a Keystone. Our current one is a Keystone. No problems with either trailer. Really like them both , no warranty issues. Fit & Finnish on both where good. I'd feel comfortable purchasing either brand.

I agree that Keystone and Jayco are probably not in the same league as AF. I do have a 2011 Premier that I bought from a dealer that is 4-5 hours away. I had a door that had some delamination on it and Keystone replaced it under warranty. In fact, the dealer was terrific and met me half way to take the trailer in for repair. While they had it they fixed my rear bumper which kissed a tree one night while backing in to a spot. They fixed it and repainted it, all at no charge even though it was my fault. After that, they met me half way again for me to take the trailer back home. I am more than satisfied with my purchase.

EDIT - I just reread my post. I should have said they OFFERED to meet me half way. Saying they "agreed" implied that I asked them to meet me.

Living in Wisconsin it is a difficult decision to go with the Arctic Fox, being a long trip to a dealer. We rolled the dice and went with the Arctic Fox because they had a unique model that had everything we were looking for. So far it has been a very good decision. The quality of the Arctic Fox is much better than other campers we have had. In my opinion - Jayco or Keystone products aren't even in the same league.

There is a campground about three miles from the dealer we used in Minnesota. Made a long weekend of the delivery. Picked up the camper on Friday & stayed in the area until the following Tuesday. The dealer came to the campground and took care of a couple small problems. The dealer had a great attitude and was very easy to work with.

We went with Arctic Fox even though we're east coast. If you have any little warrantee problems that you can fix yourself, Northwood will send parts to your house. I'd get the Fox, but suggest taking a nice long break in trip near the dealer if you aren't handy. We had some little things like drawers that needed adjusting, a door keypad that didnt work right, a side marker light was out. DH is handy so was able to fix those once Northwood sent parts. I don't think there's a trailer on the planet that doesn't have some little something that needs tweaking when it's new.

I am partial to Arctic Fox. We have a A.F. 5th wheel and have used it on some pretty tough trips--particularly in northern B.C.(Muncho Lake, Liard Hot Springs, etc.) Also, a trip to Florida and many points in between--from So. Calif. It has been down hard top roads and dirt roads My Sig is the 5'vr beside the Toad River in B.C. As mentioned it is a 4 seasons camper, both camper and frame are built by Northwood, Mfg. and they come standard with shocks. Floor space has never been a problem for us in that we don't spend that much time is the 5'vr--we sleep in it, bad weather we stay in it watching T.V. but usually we are outside exploring and we generally barbecue outside. :)Lars
