I recall the old Kaiser Jeep trucks. Yep I'm that old. :B This truck sure has some nice old Kaiser Jeep, styling cues.
Original ones ran the Willys (I believe) OHC inline, gas six and I think a nice engine in this would be a version of a Cummins 4B, the 4 banger used in a lot of city delivery trucks. Torquey, would be good for off road, etc. Might be short enough to squeeze in.
Probably though the best deal would be the 3.6 as it comes and as the OP sez, a Hemi V8. I don't know how much room there is under the hood for a new hemi though, as this one off, is based on Wrangler architecture with a stretched frame.
