Now for the bad. I knew one of my BIL's had gotten one. DW texted him and he in fact has the eco diesel. It keeps throwing a code that the dealer can not clear and he is ready to file a lemon law claim on it.

I will have to talk to him to find out what exactly the problem is.
He owns his own mechanic shop so I would trust his word.

I went to lunch with a coworker who has the ecodiesel grand cherokee this week. We spoke at length about his experience, and I came away impressed. He was showing nearly 29 MPG and it was quick.

He did say his first JGC was bought back by the dealer at about 10K miles because the MIL came on and the dealer couldn't fix it. He hasn't had any similar issues with the replacement truck.

The air leveling system addresses a different issue than the WD hitch.

Air leveling only raises the rear of the tow vehicle. A WD hitch lowers the front of the vehicle, to return weight to the steering and main braking axle.

Several Airstream owners using them. On Airforums.

My SIL has a 2014. They don't drive it much, but she loves it. She told me today that it emails her when she needs to drive it at highway speed to clean the DPF. Also said it emails her when it has low tire pressure. Pretty cool.

DW says gas mileage is too low.

My BIL keeps getting a code for something with particulate filter fault.

Now he only drives about 5 miles to his shop everyday and that is almost all low speed. I wonder if that is a contributing factor.

Although he does take a trip to MD twice a month so that would give a chance to blow the thing out.

After looking at GC's in '14 with both gas and diesel I would give the nod to the Hemi, especially if putting around town a lot. If there's a lot of highway miles then and only then I would consider the diesel.

My son has a 2015 Grand Cherokee with the diesel and loves it. Almost 30k miles, no problems. He pulls a 6,000# boat with 4 on board and it does fine. He wouldn't use it for long tows but to the ramp and back he is very pleased.

The JGC is rated with a 7,400 pound tow rating with both the Hemi and Eco Diesel engine. You just need to decide if you want gas or diesel.
