Those F150 ecobeasts are fun trucks to drive. I've been debating on getting one as a daily driver. While great for what they're meant for, light duty towing and hauling of boats, smaller travel trailers etc, they are NOT in the same league as the F250/350 trucks when it comes to towing the heavier loads comfortably.
Towing 10k lbs isn't just about whether the engine can pull the load, which the Ecoboost can with ease, it's how the truck feels when pulling the load through adverse conditions like severe side winds, uneven frost heaves, concrete expansion joints, and obstacle avoidance maneuvers.
That's where the larger trucks shine, towing comfortably at the higher weights.
I thinks it's great you love the F150.
Let's just keep it real.
I agree with you in they aren't as capable as the HDs, and that is why they are rated to tow less, and have less payload. Unlike most off the lot 1/2, the HDPP has the towing ratings and the payload to go with towing a 10,000lbs TT, and only drivers of HDPP f150 towing heavy trailers know how they tow and what they can safely handle, and I've been reading thathe they are towing heavy trailer.
Those drivers are the ones who should give advice about what, how safely, and how comfortably HDPP trucks tow.
There is a member here by the name of Mike who tows with a new HDPP 1/2 ton. Ask him, that is the person who should be giving advice about towing with those trucks.
