Jump starting the truck and charging T/C

I am going to make a custom length set of jumper cables to pack with us that we could jump the truck from the RV bank (did this once having to remove the batteries from the camper) which got me wondering.

Has anyone used jumper cables to charge their camper batteries from a running truck using jumpers directly from the truck battery to the house battery?

This might be too high a charge rate for deep cycle batteries I am guessing.

Most of the RV Motorhomes have both start and coach batteries installed using a boost switch that does what you are describing of connecting the two battery systems together when needed.

Should not be a problem unless you accidentally cross connect wrong... I would wire up a solenoid on a panel switch if it was me... Then there would not be any accidental cross wiring blowing Reverse Polarity fuses you will have to locate in the middle of the night...

Its always good to have a great PLAN B for these things. Most all of my off-road camping is geared around PLAN-Bs

Very seldom get stranded somewhere and we are always doing rescues for camper folks standing by the truck with the truck hood raised haha...
