Ib516, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at many miles of towing on the flats in OD at 2k~ rpm. Even my 5.4L tows in OD on the flats with our 8500~lb 5th wheel. Transamz9 is right. I did all the math and then tried it out on the road. My 345/365 Hemi powered 2500HD would out tow my 250/460 Cummins Ram although at 30% higher rpm and about 30% higher fuel consumption. I set cruise and let it shift all it wanted to. At 65-68 mph on the interstate it was a little racy. Didn't bother me or the truck but I could see how the RPMaphobes could give themselves a headache worrying about a non-issue. On the back roads at 58-60 mph, it was as pleasant as the diesels.
