Chris why do you hate coil springs so much? Progressive rate coil springs are just as good as flat leaf springs. Better in all but extreme applications as unloaded you have a softer ride.
Again unlike our competition Ram believes in using the right tool for the job. For the most part, Ram does not play the 150/1500 game. Giving it options like HD towing, HD payload that are really just want-a-be 250/2500 trucks.
If you are the typical subernanit that needs a second vehicle that can hual some things form the lumber yard or greenhouse or have a small RV or some ATV's Ram feels ypu should get a 1500. Have a medium weight RV or large boat then get a 2500. For large RV's or horse trailers look at a 3500 SRW or DRW. That is how it was for a long time until GM came out with their "Heavy Half" back in 1973.
Never understood all that garbage myself. My 1990 F-150 was classed has a HD 1/2 ton, had factory D rated tires and differnt springs then the standard 1/2 ton trucks. At least GM gave you 6 lug axles under their HD 1/2 tons back then.
Don
A lot of against here on who's spring pack is better with the guys who own the older Dodges. The new RAM only provides coil springs on the 2500 so move on.
Sorry Don I didn't mean to quote your topic, it's your other fan boys.
I find it a bit odd that the coil springs are mounted close to the differential housing rather than mounting them close to the wheels which IMO would provide a more stable platform. :W
