Lets look at this ride aspect that RAM was trying to achieve. If the spring is way out near the wheel and that wheel hits a bump, the frame is going to really feel that bump. Now move that spring way in by the pumpkin and let the wheel hit a bump and what happens. That is right the axle twist up on that side and less of the shock load is sent into the chassis and one gets a smoother ride. Downside, is loading the tall camper onto the truck, because you will have a white knuckle handling problem.
Now get that 5th wheel and head to the coast and see if it can handle that!
