I agree with your rant. Here's my observation after shopping for and buying numerous RVs since 1978 when we bought our first TT (which by the way had no flaws).
As a particular model or manufacturer becomes popular, the factory begins to have trouble keeping up with demand. Quality begins to suffer as the workforce is pushed to complete units faster in an attempt to keep up with demand.
Most factories will also add a second and third shift so I imagine as a unit goes down the line, shift one may not have time to add a drawer stop because the shift is over, shift two starts working on the unit and due to poor communications doesn't know the drawer stop is missing and goes on with what they routinely do each shift. Things get missed.
Quality control is now having to check way more RVs each day so they tend to over look things....the first two drawers worked fine, no need to check the bottom drawer.
Our first 5th wheel had many quality issues. This 1994 model we bought was the first 5th wheel with two powered slideouts so it became really popular. The factory went to a second shift and then a 3rd shift within 6 months because the demand was so great. After a few trips to the factory everything was taken care of and we were very happy with the 5th wheel.
