I believe most new TT owners are supprised at the amount of work that goes into an RV. It is not like your car where you buy it and drive it. There are dozens of consumables and routine maintanance items to deal with.
The comparison to autos of the 50's 60's and 70's is true. I remember cleaning spark plugs in the spring: pionts, plugs ande condensor in the fall. Tires every 10,000 to 15,0000 miles. Those are things of the past, but so are no money down and a three year pay off.
As soon as people are willing to pay Airstream prices for the average TT, you will see the quality improve. Until then the industry will build what sells.
