My point wasn't whether I should've/could've caught these issues at PDI....the point was, had anyone on the assembly floor taken the brief amount of time needed to ensure everything (including the television panel and the drawer) was properly installed/secured/aligned, there wouldn't have been issues in the first place...
even if i HAD caught these little nit-picky items at PDI, it still would have cost me and the dealer time...there I'd be at the dealer...and, if I'd caught, for example, the drawer-stop issue and pointed it out right then and there, I'd have had three options--wait for however long it took to correct them (costs me and the dealer time), leave and come back another day (inconvenience and travel time) or simply walk away (costs time to start a search anew and go through negotiations on something different, probably with a different dealer, from scratch)..
an ounce of prevention at the factory would have been worth a pound of cure at the dealership..cost me time and aggravation, and cost the manufacturer some level of ill-will
I agree they should have been caught however I got a dose of RV reality after purchasing my first trailer.
When I purchased the next one I was more informed and understood that no one had thoroughly gone through the trailer to ensure everything worked and I also realized no one will unless I do it myself.
I am handy and can fix most things myself, however it's much easier to make a list and give to the dealer than fix it myself.
I also make it clear I'm not accepting rig until everything is in order. Knowing the PDI is holding up the sale the dealer give my list a priority and has things fixed promptly.
You can be naive and assume its been checked out and repeatedly play the tow it back to the dealer game or you can go over the entire RV yourself and make sure everything is OK before you pull off the lot.
I naively trusted the RV industry when I purchased my first trailer. But I wised up by the time I purchased my 2nd unit. Now I know better than to trust the trailer has been thoroughly checked out. Fool me once.......
