After 12 years of not having a camper, we finally bought another one today! The new trailer is a 2019 Keystone Cougar 29BHS. It is actually still at the factory being assembled but I still had time to make some changes I wanted like theater seating. I enjoyed my buying experience at Floyd's RV in Goldsby, Oklahoma. They had me put 10% down until the trailer arrives by mid February. My tow vehicle is a 2018 F-150 Lariat Supercrew with the 3.5L Ecoboost motor. The family is my wife and I and our 12 year old daughter. Two small dogs.The trailer is 6,915 pounds and 810 pounds of tongue weight empty according to the manufacturer website. Ford claims my truck has a 13,200 pound towing capacity but my 1,700 pound payload capacity says otherwise. Still, I didn't take any chances and ordered a ProPride 3P-1400 hitch. Been reading a lot about those and look forward to towing with it.I'm also going to order the usual stuff. Sewer hose, water pressure regulator, leveling blocks, etc. Are there any revolutionary items that I don't know about? Anything I need to get? Somebody was telling me that I need a voltage regulator. Any recommendations on a good one? I went to Camping World since I live a couple miles from one but they sure seem overpriced on a lot of things.

At over 9000 pounds and more than 31 feet long your really pushing your luck with a 150. The numbers you cited are advertised dry weights not anywherw close to the weighta you will see when,loaded ready to travel. Also please remember everything you add to the truck beyond a stripped teuck with one 150 pound driver reduces your trucks actual towing capacity.

I'm well aware of all of that. It's one of the reasons I spent $3,000 on a ProPride hitch. I've read about the capabilities of my truck and different trailers and towing and payload capacities and tow ratings until my eyes were bleeding. I knew what I was getting into. It's too late now! I'm going camping and using my F-150 to do it! HA!

You wiil be so close on payload... My Tahoe is rated to “pull” 8500 and has a 1595 payload while the TT is 5200 wet and loaded. Six thousand is my limit. 105 pounds more isn’t much. I think your F150 is over matched.

**** the torpedoes, full speed ahead! Worked for Dewey. Hopefully it will work for you. Similar to loading 500,000 pounds on a KC10 and hoping it will fly.

That tt is heavy for its size but you'll be fine. I highly doubt you'll pack two thousand pounds of stuff in it. You have plenty of power and enough payload as long as you don't plan on loading the truck bed too.

Just bought a new Keystone Cougar! What else do I need?

Try Mobile Mart at 79th and south Shields. They will have about anything you will need and their prices are not real bad.

1. Sewer hose and fittings
2. All associated electrical fittings (30 amp to 50 amp, etc.)
3. Good quality water hose (white one, not green or brown or whatever).
4. Pots and pans
5. Silverware (plastic ware)
6. Paper plates or ?
7. Sleeping stuff - blankets, sheets, sleeping bag

That's all you HAVE to have, lots of more stuff will make things easier.

We LOOK at Camping World and then buy from other places - we see if local vendors can get things we want and if not, we will order from Amazon or Walmart. We like to support local small business.

Do you HAVE to have a voltage regulator? No, but it will certainly keep you from having things go badly wrong inside if you happen upon some place that doesn't have good wiring and voltage.

Levelling blocks are certainly handy and you will need at least a couple of chocks, but we use several lengths of 2"X 8" at 6' long if we need to lift one side. Lots of people use the plastic blocks, but we have found that with our RV, they don't last too long. We are about 14K lbs.

one thing I do when I buy new is ask for a 15% discount at the parts and accessories section of the rv lot. if they want your business they will say yes. there is a big mark up on parts etc so 15% is nothing to them. a good pressure regulator is in order. get a good one for about $35 to #50 not one of the cheap $8 ones. get good quality drinking water hose not a garden hose, a water filter, a "Y" for use at the faucet if you get a black hose for rinsing out the sewer hose. the list goes on. if you go to the FAQ section at the top of the page , they have lists for you in stocking up a new camper good luck and enjoy. I also think you are going to work your f150 to death
