Most comfortable for me with a similar combination is to Manually select 4th as top gear. It handles grades with ease and does not use much more fuel than running in 5th part of the time. 7.5-8.0 mpg at 65 mph is about what I get also. I can run in 5th a lot if I don't use cruise, but I would rather use CC. The diesel guys can all enjoy telling their 6th gear up the steepest mountain stories now. (while getting 18 mpg)
