What tripod do you use. I was looking at the Tripod Mount TR-1518. It looks a little expensive for what it is and not even a bubble level. Are there any alternatives, has anybody put a bubble level on there's. I was kinda thinking of putting it on a small table that I carry in the camper. What does the rest here do. I posted this in tech, if this is the wrong forum please delete
Thanks in advance.
  • That is what I was reading about it too hard to get the pins in in out was my concern as well thanks for letting me know of its shortcomings. Now I have to make a decision. Thank you.
  • I use that tripod. Far as I know it’s the only game in town. Stupid design, really. Doesn’t fold, hard to get the pins in, the buttons you push to extend the legs are hard to push.

    And overpriced.

Apparently there are no good mechanical engineers anymore.
  • Thanks for all the info, I think i'll be buying the tripod thanks again!

  • We have the TR-1518 also. It works great. No need for a level. I just screw the stake in the ground and connect the bungee. No need for anything more. I think it's well worth the money and should last longer than the Antenna.
  • I have the TR1518 and it works great. I never use a level, just eyeball it and let the pathway do it's job. The legs of the pathway lock into the stand and the legs spread wide enough that it's very sturdy. I did use one of my fire logs and wrapped a bunjee cord around and attached to the underside of the stand and it held very good with up to 40 and 50mph gusts. I was a bit nervous but worked well. I pondered over the cost myself but after having a while I wouldn't go any other way.
  • yea that's the one that i am talking about, how do you like it. Is it worth the money? TIA
  • I got the round one with 3 legs. Don't have it available right now so don't have the number. Works good I use 2 each stakes into the ground on either side to tie it down.
