used Afe oiled air filters on my 2005 3500 CTD Ram for 250,000 miles or 4000,000kms, 90% of those miles/kms were on dirt/clay roads...lots of fine talc like dust...no issues. My nephew bought the 05 and continues to use it on the same roads. Proper cleaning/oiling and installation, no issues! As far as Ram or any other manufacturer denying warranty, they can use any excuse to deny warranty.
I did mention AFE is a better product.
Your 05 does not have the sensors that the newer 4th gen trucks have.
