Better fuel economy and emissions? I dunno. Easier to work on? Should be. An inline six is a better balanced configuration but I'm not sure a 50% longer crankshaft adds up to better reving. Current F1 engines are V6's limited to 15,000 RPM for fuel consumption and cost, not engineering limitations.
