Characteristics of a low rpm, high torque engine are a large heavy crank with long stroke and long rods, comparatively small bores (less than or equal to the stroke length), a small lift cam with longer duration, smaller ports and longer intake runners. Characteristics of a high rpm horsepower engine are the opposite.
