Keeping Cooler During Transit

We do but we have the Maxxair covers that allow the vents to remain open at all times. I have seen vents that did not have the covers self destruct on the highway due to their flapping in the 60 mph or higher wind.

Roof vents open with MaxAir type covers are good.
Windows open while towing are not good. (sucks dirt into the interior and can damage curtains, blinds, etc.)

Same here, Maxxair covers and vents open. Do not open the windows.

If you have a generator you could run it and the roof top air but very few TT have built in generators.

another vote for covered roof vents open, all windows closed. Open windows on a highway even just a little will fill your trailer with road dust.

In my personal experience, it doesn't help that much. If it's hot outside, circulating hot air isn't cooling anything down.

When it's been HOT and MUGGY, and I'm headed somewhere with electric, I'll run my roof air off the inverter for a few hours before reaching my stop. Nothing better than having a nice cool trailer waiting after doing landing procedures in hot muggy weather.

Our A/C unit cools the trailer down within a 1/2 hour. We are usually doing "setup" stuff while it cools down. We used to leave the vents cracked open but a couple of times there was a strong smell of diesel fumes in the trailer once we stopped. It must of been coming from the semi trucks on the busy highway before we pulled off to the campgrounds.

We leave the vent open, but it really doesn't seem to help..Hot is still hot

Never travel with windows or vents open. Leave a window open and it will eventually start flapping in the wind. Next thing you know, the window is damaged. Same for roof vents. Max Vent covers are the way to go. Still, even with them, I leave the vent covers closed. They still vibrate and move open and closed when traveling. Why risk damage. I close everything up tight.

Besides ... as stated above, leave something open and you'll have a dust storm inside the camper!

My generator is permanently mounted on a Stromberg Carlson tongue mounted generator rack and wired thru an automatic transfer switch. About 30 minutes from our destination I just fire up the generator and turn on the air conditioner. All is cool on arrival.

For what it is worth, my push out window was not locked well enough and a passing truck sucked it open. It slammed shut and knocked the screen to the floor then bounced back and drew the blinds out. All this in about 30 seconds before I could pull to the side. The blinds took a real beating. I would be very careful with open windows.
