Keystone Cougar Half-Ton Series

Hi all! I am new signing up on the forum. I've been getting info here for some time but never had a good reason to sign up. I've had a Dutchmen 28G-SL for some time and just sold it last week. I am now looking at a 2016 Keystone Cougar Half-Ton series 28RBKWE.

I like everything about the trailer but there is one thing bothering me. The slide out does not go completely out to the point where you can fully open the cabinet doors over the tv/entertainment center. It is a cable slide, but I am unable to figure out the brand of it to do some more searching. The salesman is trying to tell me its normal but I'm not buying it. Its the only model they have like it so I am unable to compare.

Here is the floorplan, which obviously shows it all the way out.

Does anyone have any info on this or has anyone see this before?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!!

  • The border definitely does not contact the wall like my old 2007 Dutchmen did. I'll see if I can find some interior pictures from the dealer page or my wife.

You should be able to see from the inside if the slide is going all the way out by checking to see if the border around the slide contacts the wall when fully extended and the seals are in full contact with the wall. Could be the slide is not all the way out, but that would be easy to check. Could be a bad design too as mentioned above.
  • Are you saying that when the slide is all the way extended it obstructs a cabinet door from opening? Depending upon the model, that could be right. We looked at several campers at RV shows that had obstructed cabinets when the slide was open. To me that shows incompetent design. I've seen it from multiple brands too.
  • 12thgen, can you explain? The only seals I'm aware of are the rubbers that go around on the outside. They don't really move and just look like rubber flaps to keep stuff out. They don't look any different to me with the slide out 2" or 2'.
  • Check the slide out seals. If they don't make contact all the way around, it's not all the way out.
  • Your right that is not normal......Wasn't on my Cougar anyway.
