Keystone

My wife and I are looking to purchase our first travel trailer, we are seriously considering a Keystone Laredo or Keystone Outback, we'd like some feedback from other owners of these products please

    TIP:
Screws backing out have been an issue with many of my trailers of different brands. Every time I have found a loose screw I remove it, put a little dab of plumbers putty in the hole and reset the screw. None have ever backed out again and they can be broken loose if removal is needed.

Thought I would share that little tip here :)
  • Bought a new keystone in 2010 and surprisingly not any issues other than loose screw's etc that most have traveling allot of wash boardy gravel roads. Were quite happy with it and the lack of repairs so far.
  • THE DW and I really enjoy our '11 Outback 250RS. We had a few minor niggles after delivery which I took care-of and have had no long-term or notable problems.
You might also check for feedback over at keystonerv.org and outbackers.com.

We worked our way up the TT evolution, going nicer and larger with each purchase. We purchased a 2011 Outback 277RL and Loved It! This was the rig DW and I imagined having and keeping for many years. The quality, fit, finish and trim level was above other manufacturers in the price range. I had one minor issue with external calking but was reworked without a problem.

The Outback was stolen after a year of ownership so we had to start over. We decided it was time to step up to a FW and the only reason we do not have a Keystone Cougar FW is weight. I have weight limits with my F150. The KZ in my sig was lighter and within my comfortable payload.
  • We currently have an Outback 323BH. Wife loves it and kids love the room. We are living in ours full-time for the next 18 months. So far, no problems and the build quality looked better than a lot of others when were were shopping around. Any questions I have had, I ask Keystone via their website and receive a response within 24 hours.

  • Bought the 281RL last year and have been very pleased with it . Only thing Ive had to do was easy-adjust the cables on the slide. Agree any brand can have problems.
  • Every major band has a few nightmares like Klueck mentioned, above.

We have lived, full time, in our Outback for 7 years now. (See Signature)

We have owned 5 travel trailers of different brands over our lives and I have to say this is the best one ever. Minor problems? Sure, a few, but overall they offer one of the best values for the dollar.

Would I buy another? In a heart beat.
  • The only thing I know about Keystone products is from reading a blog where the people had MAJOR problems with their trailer. Keystone stood behind them, but they had to drop off their trailer up in Indiana (I think) for months and months at a time while they put on a whole new side!

The last time they put on the new side, they were supposed to put on both sides, but didn't. They were then going to have to empty the trailer again (they are fulltimers) leave it with them for months AGAIN.....and wait for the repair.

They opted to trade 5th wheels and get a new one. NOT a Keystone.

    You can read their blog
    here

you may have to search through it to see where they talked about the problems with the trailer, or you could email them for more info. That alone is enough for me to never buy one of their products.
