You can make $75-100k straight out of high school if you are willing to work two weeks on/one week off, bustin' ass work out in the middle of nowhere, twelve hour shifts, and the threat of being laid off every few years when the market goes bust.
Oilfield is paying better then when I worked derricks
$.85/hr flipping burgers OR $6.36/hr working derrick
Wasn't too tough of a decision.
Rent was $65/month and paid cash for my 1968 Charger and my 1966 Triumph
Lots of 'hot rodded' cars, trucks back in those days too
Just curious - was that '68 Charger equipped with the 360, 383 or, by chance a 440 CID with that delightful Hurst 4 speed quick shifter? Awesome memories I rekindle from time to time about my '69 Road Runner with the 440 6pack. SIGH! grumble grumble.
Cheers!
Mike
Mine was an R/T with the 440/4 speed......wanted the 426 Hemi version but none to be found ---DRAT! - TargaExplorerNot just kids. I often see the look at me trucks that have adults, male and female behind the wheel. Maybe they bought the truck from a kid and just haven’t had a chance to de-bling it...:B
- thomas201ExplorerYou boys are tempting me to go back to work, so I can buy some doo-dads for my truck. I need that ball sack hanging from the back bumper. Old retired tick bitten Petroleum Engineer.
- southernskyExplorerI bought one of those rich kids truck. Took the leveling kit, the oversize tires, wheel spacers and the push bar off. Now I have a pretty good low mileage truck still under warranty. Been having it for 6 trouble free years. Then you can put all the toys on line and make some money cause there is always a kid looking for toys.
- midnightsadieExplorer IIX2 you can find great trucks just look where the money isn,t.
- vacuumbedExplorerI’d consider going out of state to find a good used diesel truck that hasn’t been screwed with. Just don’t go north to the rust belt.

Mike,
With the '68 Charger, think your thinking about the 318 rather than the 360. Think the 360 didn't come out till about '74 or so.
That '69 Roadrunner with the A12 440-6 pak would of been a very nice muscle car. I bet you regret not having it anymore. :)

Mike - azdryheatExplorerThis is good news as my Duramax might be worth something when we go to sell it in a year or two.
