King of Beasts Report

http://special-reports.pickuptrucks.com/2013/10/king-of-beasts-results.html

Wow. Who would have guessed the Cummings with new trans would keep up and sometimes beat the V8 diesel up a hill

Impressive

I think I have made my decision now. the cab is far nicer and now the performance is pretty much the same.

Rick I still stand by my comment, not a fan of PT.COM they tested a 450 to a 3500

As pointed out in at least one other thread, both trucks are 14000 GVWR, which makes them the same class of truck, despite what the plate on the side says. In fact Ford makes an F350 model that is also 14000 GVWR. Makes me wonder when the both we as consumers and the marketing bozos at the big 3 will finally give up nomenclature that was invented in the 1930s and is almost totally meaningless today.

Poor Clessie Cummins would turn in his grave at being called Cummings.

Common mistake. Clessie would care a whit how you spelled them, as long as you bought them!
  • We drove I70 and the Eisenhower Pass/Tunnel last month with our MH.
It would be interesting to know how much weight those trucks were hauling during that test and what direction (E or W) they were headed.
  • Rick I still stand by my comment, not a fan of PT.COM they tested a 450 to a 3500 but when they tested 150/1500 the Ram was out classed just like the 350 was. But did they use a 2500 no they still used a 1500 why?

    Don
  • Yeah, and Ram did it with 6 cylinders instead of 8.--Just joshing.
  • Hey, again, not that big of a deal to me to see who "get's to the top of the hill fastest", BUT, it sure was nice to see that the Ram won in this and several other test.

I still say this is the best looking truck, inside and out. It's one tough, towing animal, considering it's only a "6 banger" :B.......glad those that did the test were impressed with the Ram AND the Aisin.. I liked that they also alluded to the comfort of the Ram, (hey, my wife could have told you that:))

    Great to see this
  • The Ram also had higher top speeds up the steepest grades, handled the heavy loads with more control, and kept the drivers more comfortable and less stressed. With all that said, we finally say congratulations to the 2013 Ram 3500 HD, our winner and last beast standing in this bloody two-truck battle.

Still do not get the whole 450/3500 test thing, but with the 2500 Ram beating the F-350 ( in the Canadian Truck King Challenge ) and the 3500 Ram beating the F-450 I would say that should speak volumes as to the commitment Ram and Fiat has to making these trucks Best in Class.
