King Ranch leather

I thought I had a sale on my King Ranch. We agreed on a price and I drove 60 miles to meet the new buyer who drove about 120 to meet me thinking we had a deal. My 5 year old truck looks incredible so I wasn't worried that it wouldn't meet his expectations. Well he was very impressed with the outside of the truck, said the backseat area looked brand new but he said he wouldn't be able to live with the front seats looking so rough. Seams absolutely unbelievable to me. Does anyone get 90,000 miles on a King Ranch and have the leather on the drivers seat look new? Both the passenger seat and the drivers seat look similar and the passenger seat is only used about 1/3 of the miles. Would you expect a 5 year old truck to have a better looking driver's seat than this. The leather isn't cracked at all it is just the dye worn off a bit.

  • Have to agree with the above poster, looks a little rough (not saying bad, just perhaps could have used some leather lotion). That being said, something a buyer should expect on a used vehicle with almost 100k miles.

Did you disclose to the buyer the condition or have pics of the seat in your listing?
  • That was the only issue my 2004 had was the drivers seat was showing wear. Mine was cloth and I ordered a new bottom foam cushion and cover from the dealer spent a couple hours swapping them out and the drivers seat looked as good as the others did.

You might look into that they are easy to change out but a bit pricey for the leather I would think. Total cost was around $75 for the cushion and $160 :E for the bottom cover.

Did make a big difference in how the truck showed, sold it for full asking price to the first guy that looked at her and he didn't want a 4X2!

  • well my 6 year old and 11 year old leather seats don't look that bad.
    bumpy
  • did he not know the leather is a saddle leather use some saddle soap on hem or fords high dollar saddle soap tocondition them they are made and designed to wear as a saddle does
  • I think some people have unreasonable expectations. If I needed a truck I would purchase it without hesitation. I think that Ole boy has a rude awakening when he tries to find one without ware, just the nature of leather.
