Whether you can repair the leak depends on the faucet and what is causing the leak. Repairing it will probably cost less than replacing it. If you like the faucet it is probably worth trying to repair it.
I replaced my kitchen faucet some time ago. Mine was mounted on the counter, not attached to the sink. I had to remove the sink to get at the faucet. You may need to adapt the existing plumbing to fit the new faucet. Make sure the new faucet has the same spacing as the old.
Not a difficult job but time consuming.
