Well, it must have been an amateur that installed it.......using brackets should work fine...it did on our rig.
If it is solid surface DuPont Corian material you cannot 'add' brackets.
If memory serves the Corian brand has a lifetime warranty. I don't think it would cover this due to it being a failure of the assembly, not the material.
