Who has replaced their stock air filter with a K&N? Are they really better? Improve performance, gas mileage, etc.

I've seen too many off-road toy engines ingest dirt due to those filters to take the risk. My off-road toys do not use them - They use a double layer foam filter that is oiled and then a water resistant pre-filter is slipped over the top.
