Prior to computers K&N filters were well worth while to put in. With computers there is very little if any gain. Your engine and programming are designed for very high efficiency with the stock filter. You would need to have your PCM tuned to take advantage of the increased airflow of a K&N.
Contrary to popular belief your engine does not ingest enough dirt to damage it with a K&N, unless you either fail to clean and oil it properly, or do a lot of off road driving. I've run K&N filters on old vehicles I've owned for well over 200k miles. The vehicle will rust away long before the engine dies due to using a K&N filter.
