Kodiak 236

Looking into a 2007 Kodiak 236. Older, i know, and looks like the tents have been replaced with some after-market build things - but the wife just hasn't found a floor plan she likes as much (the amount of counter space is amazing for a 23'). Any potential problems with this model that I should look out for?

  • the thermarest tents were a failure. They sent water back towards the camper.
  • Yeah, went and checked it out today. They were the thermarest tents, and they, as well as the rest of the trailer, were very heavily used. No go on that one. Did see a few non hybrids that might work out well, but nothing that compares with the counter space of the 236. Shame that model is no more.
  • hmm possibly the thermarest ends, or heard that they were replaced with the traditional tent.
  • the DW also loved the 236 when we were shopping.
but Dutchmen, parent company for Kodiak/Cub hybrids, has a less than stellar reputation for customer support/service.

since any warranty for it, won't apply to you, then it's down to doing a extremely thorough inspection. can't tell you how many buyers find out later that they weren't thorough enough and found water damage.

not sure what you're talking about regarding the "build things" bunk ends. do you have pics of what you're talking about?

also, i seem to remember that there were a lot of complaints regarding the ultra-lite frame that they were built on.
  • Read up on that thread, unfortunately, there's no resolution stating what was done, and where the leak was located.
