Komfort Decals anyone????

Hi all,
Fixing up my 1982 23 foot Komfort travel trailer. I am missing the front decals on the top. The big K is gone along with the lines that go around it. It still has the outlining so I suppose I could possibly paint it back on. But the decals would be soooooo much easier!

Thanks!

GDEtrailer, that Komfort you have looks just like mine. Almost identical color scheme! Ha! Love it!
Thank you PS See my pics above!

    Pretty cool :C

Brings back some memories of when I bought mine.. Yours looks to be in good shape on the outside. Mine sadly was in extremely poor condition inside and out.

Somehow mine was bought in California and eventually landed near the city of Butler PA. It spent 10 years parked at a lakeside campground (have the details which I found with the brochures tucked in a drawer).

Sadly the PO attempted to make repairs using a air nailer, put thousands of nail holes through out the roof and siding. So, we resided with FRP and painted using auto paints. Turned out nice but was tons of work (3.5 years).

If you have the original hub caps, they have the "K" logo on them, it is the same as the one on the front of your trailer. You can take that to a vinyl graphics place and have them scal up the size to fit your existing worn "K".

  • Thank you John H! Thats a excellent idea. Yes, seen them using it on TV and in videos. That's a great idea! They have the exact brown at Lowe's too in spray cans! Thats a great idea!
  • Does anyone know what the awning used to say on it??? Now its just says Trailer on it! Going to replace with a plastic white or tan covering. The fiberglass is a little shoddy for sure...
  • Thanks you guys! I got the trailer for 179.00. I am cleaning up the paint and just need the front decal. Thanks Gdetrailer for the info about the graphics places. That may work well. I will post some pics!
Here you can see the outline at the top center where thy used to be.

The side fronts are nice still!
  • Have you ever thought how custom painters paint designs on cars for instance on the extreems of the curves of flames ?

In the painting shops you will find a very narrow tape ~~~ buy 3M's you can be assured of no bleeding under. After you applie this narrow tape you will find it easly following along the curve of the design. then follow up with a wider version with paper attached to catch the over spray, sticking it to the edge of the former more flexable earlier version that followed the curve. Then take a scotch brite and carefull ruff up the surface, make sure to get rid of any dead paint,Use a fast drying thinner, you'll want to get to the solid surface. spray a good enamel base paint for you design, out of the sun.
  • I can't figure out for the life of me what I did with the sales brochures that came with my 1980s Komfort... If I could find it I could shoot you a email with with scans of the brochures from 1984 which would be similar if not the same.

Mine no longer has any of the original aluminum skin and I didn't bother to recreate the logos. You can take a look at my before and after pix in my profile.. (the before has the "K" that you are asking about on the front), guess I need to update my profile we have been using our "K" for 6 yrs now..

Painting on might be the better way however since you have some outlines you could take your trailer to a vinyl graphics place. Thy should be able to recreate a decal for you by using the outline.
  • 2002 Komfort ordered new .
    " I am a happy camper "
in about 2004 we were at outdoor resorts / Cathedral City during the months of February and March .
i followed the lead of some of the campers and removed all of my decals .
There was a rv graphics shop in riverside that had displays at the many RV shows that take place near palm springs during those heavy RV months .
We had them install some fancy " swoosh " decals on the tt and the tv .
They have held up well .
    no fading or peeling .
we had them install these because it was cheap to have them do the whole job .
plus they new how to apply them so that they would not peel .
plenty of " rv graphics " sellers on the "Gore InterWeb " .
  • I just knew Komfort trailers were JUNK...Good grief, after only 30 years of use the decals are failing...:)

Kidding of course...(we have a Komfort and it has been very good to us).
  • 3 year old decals might be hard to find… 30 year??? Forget it…

Take a picture and measurements from the outline to the local sign shop…
