I have a relatively small 18 watt panel on my KZ Sportsmen 14RB. I had the RV place do the install as a part of the initial sale. As far as I can tell, it's held by screws, but actually secured by the adhesive underneath. I can't really tell if it's dicor underneath in addition to on top of the screws or what, but when I went to confirm the seals around everything, I couldn't pull the panel up easily. If I were to do it over again, I'd try a metal/plastic epoxy to hold brackets that would hold the panel. You're correct that it would NOT be best to walk on the roof. The 2x2 bracing underneath the roof isn't much.
