I rented the Cruise America version for 2 weeks and will again this summer if I don't retire first and buy my full-time rig!
The trip was just me and my 11lb Minature Pinscher in late September, dry camping in Tahoe and Plumas NF at 6000 feet and above. I stayed at 3 different campsites during those two weeks (so not that much driving around). When I did resupply or stop in a pull-out when moving between campsites I just parked wherever I wanted in this small camper.
Absolutely no issues, even with the de-featured Cruise America version of this camper.
- heater kills the renter abused battery and runs through propane, I really limited use and ran the 5 gallon tank dry 2 days before returning home ...
- No issues with tanks, to be "safe" i put in 6 gallons of fresh when I had acccess to a spigot. Didn't come close to running out of water, used those same 6 1 gallon containers for drinking. Grey and black, didn't dump till returning camper.
- 5 or so navy showers during trip, did plug in the very last night for resort shower!
- room was fine, dog has huge bed and had to jam that up against dinette to leave myself a hallway at night
- Fridge/Freezer, had 3-4 weeks worth of meat/chicken fish in there! Milk, veggies, eggs, etc ... plenty big. It did pop open on me once when going up to Grouse Ridge up the NF dirt road (awesome spot in Tahoe NF, recommended! )
- I too had to move things around but only because I brought two bikes, rigid 5 gallon bucket, too much booze (really!) etc.
- bathroom size, huge,considering I'm 5'7" and 145lbs ... not 6' 200lbs ..
Great little camper, plenty of room for 1-2.
BTW, you can rent for $70/night "off season" if you just wanted to try before you buy.
Good Luck!
