Lance 825

Hi Gang, Was wondering who owns a Lance 825 and any pros or cons I should take into consideration. I'm going to look at a 2014 in Delaware over the week-end. Thanks in advance, Les BTW, I have a 2014 F350 CC 4X4 short bed.
  • We had a 2011 825 on our 3/4 ton pickup. Great space for the two of us, we even did a couple nights with a third person.

Truck handled it very well. Added Timbrens because of a slight rear sag.

We have done quite a few bareboat sailing charters so we both know how to minimize water use- fresh, grey and black. No problem with the smaller tanks.

Our biggest negative is not being able to sit up in bed- ceiling was too low- 2'-9". Makes it a little difficult to put on or take off a shirt.

The 3 cu.ft. refrigerator is on the small size but we managed.

    Our only real negatives.

Would have stayed with the 825 but then Cathy adopted two rescue dogs- 55# and 75#. No more floor space! We found a used 2012 855S in 2012, turned in for a 5th wheel without being used. Plus 3'-5" cabover headroom- we can sit up. And it has a 5 cu.ft. refrigerator.
  • Got ours early 2012, averaging 40 to 50 nights each year since. Weighs right at 2600 lbs also with our stuff and 1/2 water. Truck (3/4 ton) handles it easily with just stableloads. No issues or repairs so far. I did recaulk all the seams after delivery, just for peace of mind.

Great unit to travel in, even with 3 adults as we have done occasionally. More outside storage space than most campers. Inside storage is adequate, we have no microwave which helps. The small gray water tank is the biggest limiting factor for us, although we can go up to 4 days between dump/fill if we shower elsewhere.

Knowing what we know now, would definitely buy this again.

    Hope this info helps.
  • We have enjoyed our 2013 so far and can't report any failures except shower door edge trim coming loose, ignore the data tag on back that says 1725 lbs, ours is right at 2600 with a load of water and no gear
  • I have a similar 845. The 825 will be fine on your truck and might not need any mods. It will be in the area of 3000# rolling down the road. I would try it on a stock truck before you spend money on mods.
