Lance 855/855S Battery Compartment Safety Issues

I have also been considering the Lance 855s. Why they did not put an outside door at this location I can only assume is bcause of the added cost.
Have you noticed the vent under the ladder near the bumper? Salesman told me it is another vent to the battery compartment that runs the length of the camper. I questioned this but didn't verify this as the camper was lowered close to the ground with no way to climb under it at the time.

For this and other reasons I have taken the 855s off my list.
