After careful consideration:
I absolutely never want to depend on an electrical or mechanical device to solve a safety problem.

If it can go wrong it will!
The only safe way to solve a safety problem like this is to design an alternative solution that is safe.
Mike Stanbros excellent solution isn't fool proof.... and we know there are a lot of fools to prove it.
Since even if Lance installed AGM batteries at the factory the owner could replace them with hydrogen emitting lead acid batteries.
Boom!
