Trying to get those stiff cables routed correctly (while bent over and reaching below the floor), WHILE getting the boxes to seal properly seemed less than ideal to me. My mod allows the lids to be placed and secured without the cables possibly creating a slight gap where they pass between the upper and lower parts of the boxes.
I also did seal where the cables are supposed to run between the upper and lower halves of the boxes.
Not a perfect mod, but much better than what most dealers do.
I do agree that an outside access door and separate battery compartment would be much better.
