I get the impression that some of the units may not have two vents per battery box.
My 855S has a vent in the bottom of the battery box as well as in the top of the box.
The top vent is routed, as usual, to the front of the camper and the bottom is routed to the rear of the camper.
WHAT??!!!!
No, my boxes do not have the bottom vent. It DOES have the vent at the door at the rear of the camper. I didn't realize that was supposed to go to the batteries though. Do you have a photo of the battery box and that entry point for the rear vent?
The more I learn about what Lance did to jerryrig this battery situation, the more I think they hired chimps instead of engineers to solve the problem of battery gassing.
Now I gotta take my battery lids off, the cables off the batteries, the batteries out, the lower half of the boxes off and then look to see where the ducting from that rear vent is stashed down there.
Som 'Ofa*****!! Lance! You are idiots! That's NOT a dealer screw up; not connecting the battery box to the rear duct/vent, that's a manufacturing screw up. You guys ought to have a MAJOR recall on this and compensate us users for the time and gas it takes to get the camper to an authorized repair facility to make this right.
This new information has me so up-in-arms that I think I'll look into contacting my legislative representatives about how irresponsible Lance has been with this issue. It doesn't matter if no one has blown themselves up yet or not. Fact is; the average RVer isn't gonna know half about what we here have been discussing and it's what we don't know that will get someone injured or killed someday.
