Think!
I doubt that there will ever be a camper EXPLODE
But they might catch on fire
quite a difference
one is fear mongering the other is reality.

the biggest reason that most of us like AGM's... maintainence free
some of the other advantages include:
the can be mounted in any orentation including on their sides
You can charge them at 14.8 volts ( great wirh solar panels)
did I say "Maintaince Free?"
Mine came with vent connections for a very small hose to vent to outside of the camper
And they are "maintaince free"
They are safe... no spills, no hydrogen boiling off,no corroded connections...
The downsides of AGM batteries:
initially expensive... (but when you consider our 1032 nights in use as we travel and countless additional day trips near home... and we have never plugged up in a campground.... over an 10 year period... they are actually very cost effective
If you ever completely discharge them you may not be able to get them to recover (I monitor with a Trimetric) it can be done but you have to know the secret... (parallel charging with a good battery)
I'm sure that I missed something... as others have pointed out or at least implied "I'm just an old dumb-azz!"
forgive me
