That's what I JUST did, but even cheaper; I found a set of top-of-the-line SEARS Craftsman jumper cables on Craigslist. I would bet you could also find a good quality set of jumper cables at a garage sale or a flea market.
My local auto parts store, no, not a chain like Kragen or Autozone, ours is C&H Auto Parts, will crimp the lugs for a buck each if you buy the lugs there. (And they carry the GOOD lugs too, not the cheapos)
These guys build custom snow chains, hydraulic tractor hoses, etc. My guess is the youngest guy there behind the counter is over 60 years old. They don't have a 'smart' phone with their nose glued to it instead of helping you and they been there, done that! The kind of place that has those padded swivel stools so you can sit and talk to the counter man.
