Lance hood brackets

Broke my second hood bracket for lance struts. Two within two years. Always the same one. Ford 450 sd 2012. Anyone else? Sent this one back to lance parts. No answer yet.
  • A local welder repaired my passenger side bracket. The pin separated from the bracket. He did a great job and it has held up for 4 years now. I think he was able to make a stronger weld than the original.

Dealer installed hooks on camper. I made sure they are the right struts. The passenger side is fine, The metal seems to weaken. Had the first one welded but no good. A lot of flexing when moving.

Curious as to what type of tiedowns you are using? Any type of material being used between the camper and the truck bed? Maybe the camper in moving more than usual putting unusual stress on the brackets. Just thinking out loud here.

My initial thought was you have the wrong length of strut... too short ot too long.

I went back and looked at your history of previous posts to see if there were any hints.

    I didn't get any.

But I notice that you have been extremely unlucky or unhappy in many of yout posts.

I hope that things get better for you.

BTW... my Lance Struts (dampers) have worked perfectly for 11 years.

I believe I do - installed to ensure same amount of travel up or down - approx. 4" either way, compress or extend. The location of the bracket on the camper is critical as well as the correct length of the struts.

Not for me. No issues in 3 seasons.
