It passed a few inches in front of my knee, through the open bedroom door, the open bathroom door, and into the oak bathroom cabinet door. A stack of wash cloths behind the door stopped the bullet.

He was demonstrating his laser sight on his Glock. Problem was, he had very little feeling in his fingers and squeezed the trigger instead of the switch that activated the laser. First time I ever heard his wife swear! She took the pistol away from him and locked in the safe that only she knew the combination to. He passed away 3 months ago from a bad heart attack.

JumboJet, YES I do have a cabinet maker in the area...it is the profile that seems to be the issue...if I can match them I'll do it myself...just wanted to save the effort for other things. Oh well!

Yes - fortunate to have one in Joplin, MO which I pass by several times each year.

As far as drawer facings and cabinet doors, I have a friend that is a cabinet maker that will build and match whatever color I need. When needing a cabinet door for my 5th wheel, the only additional cost I had was buying a router bit to match the routing on the door edge. His color matching is phenomenal.

My wife's uncle shot a hole through a bathroom cabinet door with a .40 caliber bullet. My friend repaired the door and you would have to look close to see where the bullet went through.

Do you have a decent cabinet artisan in the area?

By the way... I have never had a problem with the cabinate latches that are original on our 2003 Lance.

It is so funny how a simple question can take on a different life...especially if there is an "ASSUME". In fact, I spoke with the TC rebuild place, Lentz in Tacoma, and they think it should take about a month...now that is going to be fun! So when do I turn it in? I still have loads to do myself, which can be done anytime.

I have already removed my stove / oven

I replaced the oven portion with a 20" x 8" galvanized sheet metal airconditioning duct.

I cut it off at a 16" length and put a blank end on it for the back

Bought the door from Home Depot

The assumption was you were looking to replace an existing door. The clarification you are adding an additional door would have helped a lot with replies.

Now this thread so far has taken a twist, because I don't have latch issues...funny how our expereinces are so different.

My need is to add an inside 15.5x15.5" door by the steps under the door that is already there. Reason: I am eliminating the back outside hatch opposite the that area so I can access the area from the inside for shoes and boots right at the outside door steps.

My other requirement is since I am removing the Attwood Wedgewood RANGE (it will be forsale) and replacing it wioth a slide in Attwood stovetop I have opened an area below for massive storage and desire to install a drawer like what is under the dinette aft seat...it is 16" deep and front is 20 x 11".

I wanted to match the fronts...yes I can build a drawer assembly so don't really need interior bits.

What will I do with the outside hatch the plan is to install it opposite the stove top from the outside and build a storage compartment backing against the new drawer under the stove top...I would insulate it and make it weather tight. If you have looked back there it is dead open space...will have to move water fill a bit, but hey I am rebuilding this unit, so what!

For thiose of you having latch issues look at marine style hardware for a solution and then maybe you can get a landside type at HD or L.

Don't remind me of those latches! I've got to do that this winter; replace those things. I get mine working between camping trips only to have them fail while traveling on my next adventure.

I'm thinking a magnetic latch would be a clean way to keep doors open or closed...
