Hi Guys.. I'm a proven TC man and my rig is a 2005 Super Duty Standard Cab 6.0L with Bilsteins all around and Firestone Airbag rear suspension. The drivers door indicates GVWR is 9400 with Front GAWR at 4700 & Rear GAWR at 6100. Oversized wheels & tires are LT285/80R18My next escape is imminent and I am getting closer to paying cash for a new/used rig! It will be another Lance and right now I am looking at the differences and how they have changed over the years. My last rig was a 1994 Squire 4000 which had the shower outflow into a bucket on the ground. Not a big fan of that! At 9"4" long it drove really great but I'm thinking one step longer to perhaps the 10 plus footers. With the long boys I am once again faced with the quandary of weight, safety, balance and drivability for my truck. My plan is to go over to a local recycling yard where they have a truck scale and weigh my truck with a full tank of fuel. Then weigh the front and rear axles respectively and take it from there. Does this sound right to anyone???My concerns lean more to drivability as with the old 4000 but with full service gray tank that includes the shower. Also, I will need to tow a trailer so wondering how that works on the 11 footers and those with the full rear fascia that covers the truck bumper and license plate area? Yes on the scale to get the weights. You may want tho look for an lance 915. It has gray and black tanks, only nine feet so easy to tow behind without special hitch and is only about 2400 wet.

The 11 footers work great! On a 3500 SRW with 19.5" wheels and tires. Or, on a 3500 Dually.Full of water, LP Gas, 2 batteries, food, clothes, etc. my Lance 1050S weighs approx. 4,500 lbs.I carry it on a RAM 3500 Dually like it isn't even back there.Torklift SuperHitch with 36" Torklift extension.

My 2005 F250 with camper package carried a 4000 lb TC while towing an 8000 lb enclosed trailer, but it required 19.5 wheels, shocks, upper and lower StableLoads, airbags and SuperHitch with 28" SuperTruss. It was a very steady setup and traveled most of the Pacific coast and as far east as the Mississippi River.If you plan on keeping the truck for an extended period of time, the upgrades are worthwhile. If you think you will be getting rid of the truck in the next three years, the cost is hard to justify and it would be better to upgrade the truck and then save for your next TC.BTW: Your numbers seem low for FAWR and GVWR. I know my Super Cab short bed had higher ratings.

Hi Guys, well I think my story may be developing well as I have located a 1997 Lance 815 I like for $3,500.00
The info I can find shows that it must be the LanceLite model but I do not have a shot of the rear fascia which would show the nomenclature.. Pictures do show that it has a shower so it is fully self contained which I must have. This will actually be a step up from my 1994 Squire 4000 which had really seen a lot of action when I got it. This one has some great features I am used to and is much cleaner inside and out than my last one. What I did learn if this is correct is that the weight is 1,800 lbs and that they sold it as "half tonable" so my Super Duty will handle it really well and I love that idea!

Thanks. I will do that... My budget right now is about 3 grand but in a month or 2 it will be 4 grand. I am in Deschutes County Oregon and willing to drive within reason for the right rig. Very important!
I want something nice but has to work for what I need so your advice is exactly why I am here asking you guys... Great!

Not sure what your budget is but I would look at a Lance 850 or if you want older check out the Lance 915, 920 or even the 10 series. 1010 0r 1025.

I agree and have already passed over this one. It is now simply a curiosity. My wheels are from Discount in 2005 when I purchased my truck new. They called them Razors but who knows. They are 9" wide and I agree should not get worked too hard. Don't want any trouble.
I found an LC 580 10 6 that I really like but still the extra weight consideration. I guess I should just stick to the proven 9' 6"..

I love this odd kitchen config with the "cooking for one" setup near the bunk...

I wouldn't even waste my time looking at that camper.

But I agree with the others, if you want a TC and to tow with what you have, an 11' camper is not in the cards. You would not be happy.

One thing to check is the weight ratings on those wheels and tires. They look like "bling" wheels and tires to me.

I think that nose area has been rebuilt some time in the past. Perhaps the whole cabover. I would be very careful when checking it out.

Hey just noticed something that is perhaps what you are seeing... The edge trim is silver and not a match not only in color but in shape.. I am now also seeing the siding color sort of a blue-ish where Lance issue is white white!

Hey Tim, I thought something was not quite right. So are you saying that this pointy nose wedge config was never issued by Lance from the factory because I have always been a Lance TC fan and never let one go by without a longing look. Never have I seen one built like this!

That photo appears to show some irregular siding, especially around the cabover transition. I would look very closely for moisture problems.

Found this '97 and may drive up to take a look. It is the same size as my old 4000 and will be a good fit for my truck. One thing that bothers me that probably shouldn't is that ugly wedge nose on the front. I don't remember ever seeing that on any other Lance in my travels?? I looked it up and the vids and info I found shows the '97 165 with the normal looking rounded shaped nose that we are all familiar with.. Anyone have a story about this..?
