Ok, I've seen the Lance Travel Trailers and they are real nice and heavy duty. I'm looking for some advice here, which I know I will get some :) In general Ive been told that RV have a 30 percent mark up, is that true? If not what is the mark up.Realistically here, if a Travel Trailer has a MRSP price tag of 34,000 what would you offer? How much should I be able to get them down. Its at a large RV dealership Lazy days in Tampa thanks...

Offer $25k. Pull a certified check out of your pocket. Place on table. If answer is no, pick up check and walk out. Go to another dealer. They will call you.

About$27,500 OUT THE DOOR no dealer prep, PDI or whatever other BS they try to pile in there..I would pay THE ACTUAL DMV COST FOR REGISTRATION AND LICENSE. Many times they add in a fee for that as well so be careful.What you are looking for is the total on the last line of the contract. Be careful of contract switcheroos where they push multiple contracts at you until they have you confused.MY method would be to go to the dealership with my name, address and phone number on a piece of paper. Introduce yourself and go to the unit you want. Say the following words. I want to buy this unit. This is my name etc.(hand salesman the paper. I am willing to pay $27,500 for the unit OUT THE DOOR. no add ons etc. DO YOU understand? I will let you go talk to whoever you have to. If you come back with a yes I am prepared to make the deal right now. If you come back with any other answer I intend to leave. I will not dicker. . If the salesperson comes back with any other answer than yes. WALK OUT THE DOOR! They have your number and will call if your offer was reasonable. Be careful when you go back cause they might start to play games. Be ever vigilant of that bottomline.

My approach is always the same.This first thing I tell the sales person is we are talking about the number I am writing on the check.I only have one check.Any additional costs come out of their pocket.We list everything included in the transaction.Remember, the dealer will not sell at a loss. Someone somewhere will get a better deal. Someone somewhere will get a worse deal.Given their reputation for quality, the Lance cost structure my not be the same as other brands.

You don't have to be taken advantage of in the deal, but there's no reason to treat a salesperson like a subhuman.

Not sure I would call them "heavy duty" considering the frame is of a "swiss cheese" design to reduce the weight.

After all this discussion the answer to the OP question is one that only he or she can answer.

Can the OP afford a Lance trailer? Only if he wants one and can afford to buy it.

Opinions vary. :)

I tried going through Costco. Even used the program once before when buying a vehicle. But for the RV program they only offered the closest RV dealer which happens to not be a Lance dealer. I tried them again, and still no luck. It appears you may have difficulty use the Costco program if you have a specific make in mind.

If you are not doing your own repair and maintenance, the quality of the dealer's service dept. might be worth paying a bit more. If I was buying a new trailer, the first place I would go is into the service dept. A cursory look on how that is being handled would give you a good estimation of their quality.

Geeesh I'm so embarrassed, I thought the asking or the MRSP was 34,000 well its something like 44,000 I think I just answered my own question. Thank you for all that posted. Even tho I might not get the TT I wanted I think I have a better understanding on one that I can afford!!@! Thanks again
