Back in the day leasing was only done by businesses. Then they started pushing it for everyone because the price of vehicles were getting too expensive to buy for lots of people. So they offered leasing along with buying. Now the guy working at McDonalds can drive a BMW.
Minimum wage person is still not leasing a new luxury vehicle. At least not on their credit alone. People seem to get tunnel vision when something like leasing is discussed. Leasing is a very good tool particularly if you want a new vehicle every two years or so. You are only paying for the share of the vehicle you use up during a lease. The same thing will happen if you purchase a vehicle every two years. You will eat that depreciation which is especially high during the first couple of years. Leasing is not for everyone but when have we lived in a one option world. Back when I wanted a new vehicle every two years I leased. Now based on my lifestyle and holding period I purchase. Both scenarios were correct for me at the time.
