I have a gas/electric heater. I have yet to need the gas portion.
I have found the hot water way too hot and there in no temp adjustment on my unit. I suppose they are making up for the smaller volume (6 gallons) with hotter water.
The tank is well insulated and if I turn it on when I get up; by the time we make coffee and have breakfast it is up to temp and I can shut it off for the remainer of the day.
We usually prefer the CG showers as we do not have to worry about how much water we use. So the TT hot water is mainly for dishes and washing up.
Obviously others peoples demands will dictate how much hot water they need.
