LED clearance lights

If you're going LED, don't waste your time and money on anything other than truly sealed lenses:

Due to the sealed nature of this lamp, corrosion will never be a cause for replacing lamps or bulbs again!

This model lamp, due to its design, provides excellent forward and rearward visibility. This photo shows the lamp when viewed from the front. Three forward and rearward facing LEDs, which are mounted on the circuit board at a 45 degree angle, as well as the design of the lens housing provide this increased illumination when viewed from an angle.

Those appear to have a two piece design of base and cover. For two dollars more the one's I posted are sealed one piece. For me that's worth $2.00.

Does anyone have any experience with this vendor or these lights ? The lights on my camper are beat to say the least and I like the idea of the LED's. Comments or advice ?

I use those same lights, 7 Red/7 Amber on my AF. The best thing about them is that they are sealed, one piece units, and they draw 1/2 the current of the OEM incandescent set.

I too use butyl tape for most of my caulking needs. It is seldom I use anything else, but if I do, it is Parabond.

There are two different types of putty tape, the inexpensive and the Butyl. The butyl does not dry out and harden, and is very sticky.

I used Parrbond to seal the lights to the aluminum. I left a weep hole on the bottom. As I recall, I riveted the lights to the skin.

I recommend butyl tape, not sealant. It's removable, it can't "fail" like sealants can, and it's cheap. I used to be a commercial high-rise caulking contractor, so trust me-it's the best choice. Just trim off the excess after you tighten the light down. That'll help keep things clean.

69 Avion those look great. What type of sealant did you use to seal the light to the aluminum skin ? Were your OEM lights riveted on ? Did you use rivets to install the LED's or screws ?

I have the same light (same P/N), although from a different source. I replaced all of my TC OEM lights with the LEDs in Oct if 2007. The OEM were a constant problem and lenses no longer available.

I used the Clear lens with red or amber LEDs at $12 each. I have not had any problem with the clearance lights since I changed them. If needed, I would use the same lights again.

I also added 15 7/16" LED Stop / turn / tail light bars to the rear, to supplement my OEM taillights.
