In true minimalist fashion, I only replaced the ones I typically used (Kitchen Sink, Fume Hood, Bathroom, Inside Entry, Dinette). The fluorescent lights are almost never used. If so, only for a quick moment. That cut down on the need to purchase many. These were replaced with the bulb type, that turned to allow repositioning. $$ was not my motivation in selection. Color, type and longevity was more of an issue. I use a task light for my evening use (LED Bulb, from Lowes, in a reading lamp) on the dinette and a second one while in bed, for writing and reading. Not a fan of ceiling lights. My evening background light is the light in my stove exhaust fan housing. I don't need a lot of light, otherwise I would be lighting up the world around me. Nature does a much better job of that, night and day.
