LED Light strips in storage compartments outside..?

Question

I'd like to put some cheap LED circuits in each of the outdoor storage compartments. Even better if i could put on a switch so that when the door opened, the light would turn on. Not necessary - but would be neat.

If not, i can wire to a 12v switch. No big deal either way.

Has anyone done this? Any write-ups, pics, suggestions, ideas, etc?

I set up all my storage bays with lights that turned on when i opened the door.  I used regular lights(singles with the built in on/off switch)and auto hood/trunk alarm switches.  These are the ones with the adjustable depth and grounds out when the door is opened.  Ran a fused hot to the light and the ground to the pin of the switch.
