LED LIGHTS

We put a strip of tan duck tape over our LED lights. It was just enough to dim them and now they give the perfect amt of light.

I put 3200k throughout the trailer and it's a great light. I spent about $8 per lamp times 13. The best part is, the led doesn't scorch the inside of the plastic lenses. Almost no heat at all. Well worth the upgrade.

You are looking for the color temperature of 3200K the same as a regular incandescent bulb.

most often what is installed is similar to a cool white, 4500 K or so.

Warm white, near an incandesent bulb is 3200K, normal incandesent is 2800K

so look for color temperature.

One warning on cheap replacements. LED's want to be driven by a constant current. the good ones have a circuit that holds the current constant. the cheap ones have a dropping resistor. Converter comes on, voltage goes to 14ish volts, current goes up, LED junction voltage drops 2.2mv/C as the LED heats up, increasing current more, pretty soon you end up with a dead LED or one that gets hot enough to unsolder itself. (seen that happen)

Or battery voltage drops, LED's get pretty dim quickly. At least that doesn't do any damage.


Downside of the ones that regulate current is if not done properly the can give interference to TV/radio etc.

A few years ago good ones were spendy, but today good ones with regulator are reasonably priced and much more common than a few years ago.

2 dozen warm light led bulbs from amazon was $16 shipped via prime. Had them the next day. Worked great!!

LEDs come in a variety of radiances, when we did a full interior conversion to LEDs we chose a warm luminance that mimicked the incandescent bulbs we replaced quite well. We purchased from an Ebay store recommended on this forum, very economical and every LED panel array still works as good as when I installed them 5 years ago. Buy a few to find just the right hue your DW prefers before going all out.

Yep, ours are harsh to. I installed led rope lighting above the crown molding across the slide and it gives nice up lighting. Before that my wife put a lamp on the table. We use them for night time lighting unless we need the brighter light.

Definitely check eBay. One suggestion is to buy from a USA supplier and not overseas. Makes it much easier if there is a problem and shipping is much quicker and the price difference won't be noticeable. $1/bulb is a good estimate. In my last motorhome I had over 70 halogen bulbs to replace!
Buy a couple cheap ones from different suppliers to try out before you order all of them.

Change the ones she uses. They truly are not that expensive. The first one I bought was $67 and could be replaced today for $1

There are "warm" and "cold" LEDs. They go by various descriptions. Check out Amazon and EBay. They are not all that expensive.

They also comes in various sizes and levels of brightness.

I went from incandescent to LEDs so wire gauge was not an issue.
