LED strip under awining mount

Where did you get the electrical extension that plug into light and controller - I need a 8 ft just like the one you have.

Thanks to recommendations in another thread to use the kit with the RF remote so the IR controller doesn't have to be mounted outside in the weather.

I drilled a hole in my siding under the awning and pushed the power cable into the cabinet above my bathroom sink, and wired it through the ceiling to the bathroom light. Used a dab of silicone to seal the wires through the hole.

This was perfect for the 17' awning. Shipping was incredibly fast and it cost $22 for my strip and then I purchased telephone wire (which has 4 wires in the white sleeve.

I mounted the control box inside my front storage hatch. Connected power from my light to a leftover power cord that I had clipped the end. After the control box I had to splice the wires to the telephone cable, routed the wire thru the drilled out wall, ran the wire (siliconed in place) up the awning arm (to hide much of the wire, spliced the wire to the LED strip and ran it right under the awning (this protects it from most of the elements). The strip has 3M backing but I still laid a thin bead of clear silicone to prevent any failure. I also siliconed all the connections and also the tail.

I ran the ir leg thru my side marker light and siliconed both sides of the pass thru. This allows easy control and does not hinder distance (I have hit it from over 20'). The controller is a 44 key unit. I have included some of the colors. You can control the brightness also and the pure white is extremely bright.

Little late but after action report is that the 10 dollar LED strip mod is a great addition, going to put led bulb in porch light and wire dimmer behind switch inside to control brightness.

Don't trust the double sided tape that came with the lights. You can grab a roll of industrial strength tape for $10. Be careful it is permanent when it sticks to anything.

The video is set to private. I actually considered running mine to the amber light, but my camper is brand new, and couldn't bring myself to start ripping off sealant to tap into the light. There is an outlet right behind that wall too, just behind the microwave, I could have just kept it 110v and plugged it in there, and mounted the controls inside. As it stands, mine works well so I'm not going to change it.

My light is behind the awning, so when the awning is rolled in, it dosen't put out much light, but does emit a great glow around the camper, so it's a perfect night light. If I roll the awning out 6 inches, it brightens up the area. So even in brisk wind, I can roll the awning out a tiny bit, and still have light.

I did that last year with a $11 roll. Everyone likes it. Most all of the ebay sellers ship direct from china. You can buy dimmers for a few bucks or spend a bit more and get the muti color ones with the remote. Make sure you get the FOUR led multi color roll, as some do not have white, and get the weather proof strips. Some are not sealed, and are better for use under toekicks and upper cabinets.

They only come in 16ft lengths but can be cut to be shorter. I bought mine local at an electronics store for $36. They're all over eBay for around that price too.

You may want add a dimmer for that strip.

I have the tri-color strip and love it. Change colors for different seasons, holidays, moods, as well as white and dimming.
