When you are camping in the mountains in a remote spot in November, and it is cold and rainy, and you go to sleep to sound of rain on the roof (very lovely tinkling noise!), and you wake up in the middle of the night to deep silence, don't think to yourself, "Ah, the rain has stopped."
Instead, think twice. The second time, think: "Uh-oh, I wonder if that rain has turned to snow and I am about to get badly stuck, miles from nowhere." Peek out the window. Realize that ten inches of wet snow has fallen and you are darn close to stuck. Wake up your courageous spouse. Thrash around in the pitch dark blizzard, pack your junk, hitch up, and hope the trailer can be extracted. Drive ten miles, very slowly, on an icy deserted road to get back to a plowed surface.
